Evidence and data infrastructure designed for capacity, throughput, and recovery

Forensic and data-intensive teams can outgrow ad hoc external drives quickly. TIERS designs storage around active processing, retained evidence, network throughput, redundancy, backup, expansion, security, and the actual recovery objective.

Evidence Storage

Expandable storage pools for case data and retained evidence with capacity planning, encryption, permissions, monitoring, and documented configuration.

Processing Storage

High-speed Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) and solid-state drive (SSD) tiers for active case processing, cache, scratch, indexes, exports, and other performance-sensitive data.

Network Storage

10/25-gigabit Ethernet (10GbE/25GbE) options and Server Message Block or Network File System protocols (SMB/NFS), as appropriate, with segmentation, access controls, and throughput sized around the forensic or production workflow.

Backup & Recovery

Secondary copies, offline or immutable options, snapshots, recovery planning, and restore testing can be incorporated into the design.

Processing Servers

CPU, RAM, GPU, storage, and networking can be combined for centralized evidence processing, automation, or team workflows.

Expansion Planning

Drive bays, controllers, networking, power, rack space, spare strategy, and replacement cycles are considered before delivery.

Storage is not a backup strategy

Availability, evidence retention, and recovery are separate design questions

Redundant array of independent disks (RAID) or Zettabyte File System (ZFS) redundancy can improve availability, but it does not replace a separate backup and recovery plan. TIERS Group can design distinct active, retained, backup, and offline/immutable tiers based on the client's risk and retention requirements.
